Rhapsody Hill Farm offers a variety of services to help our clients improve their riding and enjoy our horses.

Lessons

At Rhapsody Hill Farm, our core focus is safety while maintaining a fun environment for riders of any experience level aged six and up, in your discipline of choice. Many of our students rode as a youngster and have returned to the saddle as adults! Our safe and seasoned horses can be ridden both English or Western and many are retired career show horses! Aside from extensive training and impeccable manners they enjoy teaching beginners and advanced riders new skills and they love their job! In addition to wonderful horses, Jane’s background in education brings the knowledge and patience to work with riders of all ability levels.

We encourage beginning students to start out with half-hour lessons and to enjoy riding with a friend once they have established the basic skills needed to keep them safe. We do our best to keep lessons running smoothly and on time for all riders so we ask that our students arrive 15 minutes early for their scheduled lesson. As our focus is on horsemanship, riders will usually be able to help groom, tack and/or untack their horse before and/or after riding on most days.

Clinics

English and Western riding and Showmanship clinics with Jane and other trainers are scheduled throughout the year. All students who can steer, walk and trot by themselves are invited to attend. Participation is on a first come/first served basis as spaces are limited.  This is a great opportunity for students to work with nationally known trainers.

Night Riders (Adults Only)

Tuesday nights, weather permitting, our adult group enjoys a relaxed lesson under the lights. Join us Tuesday evenings 5:30 to 7:00, with adult refreshments to follow. We welcome all ability levels, but please call ahead to reserve your spot.

Showing

Rhapsody Hill Farm attends multiple show series in order to accommodate riders of varying ability levels. We have many students who enjoy showing at a local level just for fun and others who want to be more competitive. Riders can compete in both English and Western events as well as walk-trot or lead-line for our younger riders.

Check out our Calendar page for dates and locations.

Leases and Practice Rides

Practice rides and Partial leases are available for Rhapsody Hill Farm students on a monthly basis. Students must be a member of our weekly lesson program and demonstrate the ability to work around the horses safely, tack and untack, warm up and cool out the horses properly. Leasing is a great intermediate step for students who may consider owning their own horse in the future and will help students learn about caring for horses. It is also a fantastic way to get more saddle time for enthusiastic students who just can’t get enough!

Practice rides are a great opportunity for students to do an individual lease ride for busy students who cannot commit to a monthly lease. Riding time outside of lessons should be used to practice what students are working on in their lessons and riders may not attempt maneuvers above their ability level.

Vacation/Summer Horsemanship Programs

Rhapsody Hill Farm offers Horsemanship Programs for kids ages six to fourteen during Summer and School Vacations, check out our Calendar page for scheduled dates. During the day, participants will learn about farm management, horse care, horse health and tack/equipment. Each day includes a riding lesson, mounted games, arts and crafts, and educational activities including learning the parts of the horse and tack. Each session students will also have a chance to learn about and try their hand at clipping, banding, braiding and bathing the horses! From time to time we even do a horsemanship program for adults on a Sunday afternoon.
